Short answer
Every campaign has a secret webhook URL, and the public API does the same with a key. A lead posted to either is created or updated, reset to fresh and marked as injected. With the "Newest injected first" priority rule on (it's in the recommended rules), it's ranked above everything else. The boost fades over the rule's window, 30 minutes by default.
The single biggest factor in contacting an inbound lead is how fast you call. A lead called within minutes of filling in a form is far more likely to answer than one called the next day. Hot injects exist to get those leads dialed first.
The webhook
Open a campaign's settings to find its lead webhook URL. It contains a secret key, so anyone with the URL can add leads. Treat it like a password, and rotate it if it leaks. Post JSON to it:
number1(orphone) is required.- Optional:
first_name,last_name,email,company,state,timezone,language,lead_source,notes, custom fields. - Consent proof:
consent,consent_at,trustedform_cert_url,jornaya_leadid,ip_address.
Zapier, Make, web forms, landing page builders and lead vendors can all post to it. The public API has the same endpoint for a campaign, authenticated with an API key.
What happens to a posted lead
- The contact is created, or updated if the phone number already exists.
- The lead time is reset, because a lead posted again counts as a fresh opt-in.
- It's added to the campaign. If it was already there, it goes back to pending: step 1, due now.
- It's marked injected with the current time.
- Agents watching the campaign see it arrive straight away.
Ranking: Newest injected first
The injected mark doesn't move anything by itself. The Newest injected first rule in Settings → Queue priority turns it into rank. The recommended rules start it at a boost of 1,000 points fading to zero over 30 minutes:
| Minutes since inject | Boost |
|---|---|
| 0 | 1,000 |
| 15 | 500 |
| 30+ | 0 |
The fade matters. Without it, every lead that ever came in through the webhook would stay above your fresh CSV leads forever.
Only leads that are pushed in live count as injected: the webhook, the API, workflow *Add to campaign*, and GoHighLevel or CRM real-time adds. A CSV import isn't a hot inject.
Ring it right away
Two more settings make a hot lead ring within seconds:
- Dial new leads after: 0. The lead can be dialed the moment it arrives. Leave it empty to wait for the next sweep, up to a minute.
- Calling hours. A lead that arrives at 11pm in its own time zone waits for the morning, however hot it is.
